Written for 12-Step Programs (2010-08-18)When I purchased this book, I was looking for a daily reader with strong, inspirational stories for women. I did not realize the book was specifically a 12-step book. Although I appreciate the 12-step traditions, I find this book actually reinforces some of the things I was trying to get away from, including extreme emphasis on accepting things as they are. Again, I appreciate the 12-step traditions, including the concept of serenity. However, many people seem to accept things that they actually can change because they do not acknowledge their power to make those changes. In my opinion, this book promotes such a perspective. The other criticism I have is that it is somewhat heavy on God, and even though it may not be explicit, it is clear that this is from a traditional religious perspective. If you are looking for a 12-step book that is God-focused, then this should work for you. If not, I would recommend continuing your search.
Each Day a New Beginning (2010-07-25)This book was just like brand new for the one I ordered. The other was slightly used, but it was OK.
Glad I ordered both of them.
Thanks!
A daily reader (2010-06-06)This is a well written daily reader for women. I have had my copy for years and now I give copies to those closest to me. The book pertains to all 12 step programs.
Daily Meditation (2010-04-15)I am so impressed with this book. It is used along with my bible and the 12 step program. It definitely has the woman in mind!
This book made me feel less alone during a difficult time (2010-01-20)I came across this book by accident. I found it on a friends bookshelf, she had been given the book as a gift and told me I could have it. The author wrote that this book is meant "to bridge the gap between you and your spirit" and that is exactly what it does. I set aside time every morning to read the daily quote and focus on the message. This morning I was reading it at a coffee shop and someone commented to me "that must be a good book beacuse you are really focused on it." I just laughed to myself and said that it was a good book.
My morning meditation always puts me in a good, positive, can do mood. Then if I feel some negative energy comming on, I reverberate back to the book to help put myself at ease. It has really helped me make it through many tough days. I have been struggling with depression, weight issues and like the author struggled to believe in my "worth, capabilities and strength." I have made alot of progress but I am not there yet. I have been doing alot of soul searching and "internal work" to the point that I am unrecognizable to my former self. The book has really helped to guide that process. Letting me know that this type of struggle is necessary in order to reach your full potential as a woman. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Artists major and minor have found the reading woman a favored subject throughout the years, and the works presented in this calendar by Mary Cassatt, Carl Larsson, Jan Vermeer, and other painters from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries attest to that. Each image is accompanied by a quotation about the pleasures of reading.
Designed for the reading women (2010-08-15)If your wife, girl friend, or female relative is a reader, this is the engagement calendar you must give her.

Meditations for Women who Do Too Much (2010-06-02)Excellent way to start your day. I read this and Starting Your Day Right by Joyce Meyer each morning to "set me up" for a good day. Takes less than five minutes and is worth more than an hour of yoga!
meditations for woman (2010-05-06)Very prompt. It was in the condition I expected. and a great book I recomend it to anyone who is feeling overwhelmed from being superwoman....J
I am almost ready for this book (2010-04-07)I am an over-producing, stressed-out Mom and business owner. And I found I was taking out my stress on the people that deserve it least--my family and me. I needed to change for all of us. I received this as a gift a long time ago, and just didn't get around to opening it. Then for the new decade I decided to make time for myself (nearly) everyday to get on my yoga mat, or any quiet spot, and take a few minutes to listen to my mind and body.
On January 1st I opened to the first entry. Almost every entry gives me pause, and I think about what i throughout the day. The meditations bring me into a calm place, and make me be very honest with myself. Sometimes so honest I know I am not ready for it and I hope next year when I re-read it I will be ready to that honest and forward.
Very, very good book. I am learned to talk from my heart space.
disappointed (2010-01-07)The book was identified as new but had 1 inch marks from a majic marker. Ugg.
Paperback Book (2009-10-26)The book was received very promptly and in excellent condition. Very pleased!Meditations for Women Who Do Too Much - Revised edition

This one-year devotional program offers contemporary Christian women a chance to study the lives and legacies of 52 women in Scripture. Some, such as Eve or "Lot's wife," are prominent and well-known biblical figures. Even the lesser-known women--such as the daughter-in-law of Judah, Tamar, who disguised herself as a prostitute--offer provocative and fascinating stories. What shines through in this well-written book is the authors' great respect for these gritty, intelligent, and occasionally flawed women. The authors briefly tell each woman's life story in an enchanting storytelling voice, helping readers to see how these ancient stories still have meaning centuries later. The book is well-organized, offering a woman's story for every week of the year, as well as a week's worth of structured lessons and reflections.
Women of the Bible (2010-04-02)The book was in excellent condition with dust cover. Timely delivery and had no problems. Thank you and would buy from again.
Ladies' Class Review (2010-03-25)Our Ladies' Bible Class was looking for a book to use for our Tuesday morning class. We looked at several different books, and decided on this one. We have loved it! We had just lost our previous teacher to cancer, and we all decided to step up and participate more. Each week we announce who the next teacher and subject will be. It has proven to really be a blessing. Everyone seems to have their favorite Bible woman and we have seen our ladies come forth and teach who normally would never have been in this capacity.
women of the bible-speaks to women today (2010-03-08)Women of the Bible: A One-Year Devotional Study of Women in ScriptureA One-Year Devotional Study of Women in Scripture]]This year long daily devotional speaks to women living in today's world. Done either as a group study, as I am doing, or as an individual study I find this book provides a way to look at and learn from the women of scripture. It is a way to improve relationships today by understanding the past. My group comes together having read Monday and Tuesday pages; which look at the biblical woman's story as well as some information about the cultural times she lived in; to focus on the Wednesday page of each of the women studied. That day digs into the scripture and and discussion questions. The group grew dramatically through a newspaper article which for me demonstrated the relevancy for this type of study today. There are an additional 8 women, unable to attend the group, using the book. They have provided me with feedback that it works well as a personal devotional by providing them with inspiration and encouragement in their daily life.
A great study about and for women... (2010-02-26)We choose this study as a group and are very happy with the results. We have found that the individual studies have found us wanting to know more about these women and their lives. We have researched the influence of their faith and the mores of their time in history. We are looking forward to a year long study that gives us all an enrichment of our own lives and our faith.
Woman of the Bible (2010-02-06)I loved this Devotional so much I bought one for my daughter in law,and she loves it too.

Awesome (2007-09-19)This book was given to me by a wonderful christian woman who wrote an inspiring personal letter on the inside cover. It was the first devotional I had ever read. It meant so much to me that I did the same for a new christian woman that I had met later on. I wrote a letter to her on the page next to my letter and prayed that it would mean as much to her in her new walk. I miss this book so much I think I am going to buy another copy for my three daughters.
Women Who Loved God (2003-04-14)This book is a wonderful inspiration and great devotional. It is a great tool in working with women.
Wonderful! A great discipleship tool! (2002-02-22)We gave this book to some older junior high and high school girls as tool to deepen their walks with God, and they LOVED this. My fellow co-leader and I went through this too, and we really loved it as well. It's highly usable and readable, and Elizabeth George is a solid teacher.

not 'beautifully' bound but wirebound (2010-02-18)
I live in a place where I have to order the basics like a calendar online.
I've got a thing against wire-bound agendas and thought I'd done a good job of finding one that was not bound by wire loops. Esp. when another reviewer said it was "beautifully bound."
If you don't like spiral binding the pics suggest it isn't but it is indeed a spiral binding type agenda.
I love the pictures and quotes and the amount of space for writing.
I just wanted to point out the spiral binding in case any others have my quirky dislike.
A Feast for the Eyes (2010-02-04)I have had this calendar before and it is a feast for the eyes. On each page is a wonderful piece of art pertaining to women reading and also a meaningful quote. Thr calendar itself has a monthly page and weekly pages with plenty of room to write notes.
Book Lovers (2010-02-02)This beautifully bound daily engagement book is a perfect gift for the reader. Its pages are interspersed with prints of famous art works depicting women reading. Plus there are some very inspirational quotes about reading. This makes a perfect gift for your woman friend who is a reader and an appreciator of art. Better still treat yourself to this daily journal.
Great Calander (2009-11-06)I purchase the Women of Reading calanders every year. Wonderful pictures and plenty of room to write down anything that is important to you. Check out the calendar and I think you will be impressed. If you like to read, even better.

But in spite of such skills, Africas nomadic pastoralists and hunter-gatherers face deep questions about their future.
